Favorite Hair Products of Summer 2017

Honestly I think my hair is my best quality. I always get the most compliments on my hair. I try so hard to keep my hair looking it’s best but it gets to be a chore sometimes because my hair is so long. My hair used to be a mess. I had short hair that was all split ends, dry, damaged, brittle, all that. That’s when I started taking really good care of it. I didn’t cut my hair for 4 years and it grew quite a bit. Then I started using haircare products to keep it looking it’s best. I have different products that I switch on and off with during the summer and the winter so I’m going to show you what I use for the summer. I’ll probably end up making one for the winter too haha. I’ll link all of the items down below!

  1. Suave Color Protection Shampoo and Conditioner
  2. Coconut oil
  3. Not Your Mothers Sea Salt Texturizing Spray:
  4. Herbal Essences Dry Shampoo:
  5. Combs
  6. Hair, Skin and Nail vitamins

  1. Suave Color Protection Shampoo and Conditioner

Color Shampoo

Suave Professionals Color Protection Shampoo for Color Treated Hair

I’ve been using this shampoo since the beginning of summer and it’s really held the color in my hair. I used to use a damage control shampoo, but it stripped my hair of it’s color pretty quick. This shampoo is guaranteed up to 70 washes and it’s been true to it’s word so far!

2. Coconut oil

Coconut Oil

Viva Naturals Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, 16 Ounce

I have a really dry scalp so I love using coconut oil, especially in the winter. In the summer I use this coconut oil about once every 2-3 weeks. It moisturizes my hair after I bleach it and strip it of all moisture. It also helps my hair grow, so I’m not complaining haha

3. Not Your Mother’s Sea Salt Texturizing Spray

Not Your Mother’s Texturizing Sea Salt Spray, 8-ounce

I’ve been using this product for about 3 years now and I don’t have any complaints. I love putting this in my hair after I wash it and put in it braids. I let my hair dry (which takes way too long), then take it out of the braids and add some more spray. It keeps the waves in my hair much longer than going without it. The only thing I would say is it dries out your hair a little so be careful how much you use.

4. Herbal Essences Dry Shampoo

Herbal Essences Biorenew White Grapefruit & Mosa Mint Dry Shampoo, 4.9 FL OZ.jpg

Herbal Essences Biorenew White Grapefruit & Mosa Mint Dry Shampoo, 4.9 FL OZ

I love this product because it does everything it says it does and it smells good which is a plus. It doesn’t leave my hair feeling weird or dry after using it. You just spray it in, style as you please then brush/comb it out. It makes my hair feel freshly washed again and the feeling lasts all day.

5. Combs

Magic 10 Piece Professional Styling Comb Set

The last time I went somewhere and got my hair done, the lady said I shouldn’t use a brush because it causes split ends due to the bristles. Instead, she told me to use a comb and that’s what I’ve been using for about 3 months. I used to have really bad split ends and it caused my hair to not grow anymore. Now that I’ve been using a comb I’ve noticed a huge decrease of split ends in my hair, which has made it start growing even faster!

6. Hair, Skin and Nails Vitamins

Nature’s Bounty Hair Skin and Nails, 230 Gummies

These are probably the main reason my hair has been growing so much. I take two of these every morning with my breakfast. I have been using this product for about 10 months now and my hair has grown about 10 inches since. An inch a month. It’s worth trying if you’re desperately trying to get your hair to grow!

Those are all the hair products I’ve been using this summer! What haircare products do you use? Let me know in the comments! 💙

I Bleached My Hair… Again

Hey guys! Long story short, I bleached my hair again two days ago. I did it because my roots were growing out pretty fast. As most of you know, I hate my brown hair. Most of you probably haven’t seen me with brown hair so here’s this picture from last winter:

If you didn’t read my post from about a month and a half ago, I decided to start a process of dying my hair platinum blonde. Since it was such a dark brown color and lightening hair is a process, I used a regular box dye to lighten it to a golden blonde. It ended looking like this: 90DFE782-65BC-46AC-9251-8957F638A868.JPG

That still wasn’t the shade of blonde I wanted it to be though. So after about 3 weeks I got it bleached. I had never bleached my hair before so I didn’t know what to expect. I had heard horror stories of hair falling out after they bleached it. I already shed like a cat so I didn’t wanna go bald. But I did it anyway. This is how it looked the first time after I bleached it:

Words couldn’t explain how happy I was with my hair. It was the color I’ve always wanted it to be ever since I was like 14. Plus all of my friends said I look hot… all 2 of them. Shoutout to you guys.

After about a month and a week it had grown out about an inch because of the Hair, Skin, & Nails pills that I take. So I decided to get it bleached again. Here’s the outcome of that:

We didn’t take into account how long my hair is, so we only got one box of bleach when we should’ve gotten two. We’ll probably end up touching up my roots again here in a week or two. I’ll let you guys know how it turns out then!

Since I’ve started bleaching my hair I’ve learned that there are some things you should do to take care of your hair after bleaching it.

  1. Take Hair, Skin & Nails vitamins or some source of Biotin.
  2. Don’t wash your hair every day.
  3. Use a color protectant shampoo and conditioner.

That’s all I have to say for now, but I’ll give you guys an update the next time something big happens with my hair! I’m going to link all the products I used for my hair down below! I hope you all liked reading! 💙

Update: I Bleached My Hair!

I’ve been dying my hair since my freshman year. Each time, I would dye it the same golden blonde color just to get rid of my brown hair. If you know me you know that I HATE MY BROWN HAIR!!! No offense to brown haired girls, but I love blonde hair so much better on me for so many reasons. It brings out my blue eyes more, it boosts my self confidence, and everybody tells me I look hot. Who doesn’t wanna be told that right?

I dye my hair once, maybe twice a year. I’m all about treating my hair with moisturizing masks, not washing it everyday, taking Hair, Skin and Nail pills, keeping the split ends away and especially no heat, but the one thing I do is dye my hair. That’s like the worst thing you could do to it I know, but what does a girl do?

This time instead of getting the same color I’ve gotten for the last 5 years I decided to do something different and out of my comfort zone: Bleach it. Now you’re probably thinking, Abby, what the hell is wrong with you?! Bleaching your hair is the worst thing you could do! Yes I know, but I really wanted to try it. I’ve always wanted a sun kissed beach blonde babe look, wow that’s a lot of words, but it was now or never. So I took the risk. I think it turned out really good though.

If any of you are thinking about bleaching your hair please take these tips into consideration! This is how I got the best results.

  1. Bleach it with dirty hair. The more oily your hair is the better the bleach will stick to your hair and the oils will have sort of a protective layer over your hair.
  2. Don’t shampoo after. After you bleach your hair and you go to wash it out, don’t use shampoo, just the conditioner that comes in the box. It will make the color last 10 times longer, and your hair will feel more moisturized… not dry and damaged.
  3. Wait at least 24 hours to wash your hair. I waited to let my hair get some natural oils in to help moisturize the hair more before I washed it for the first time.
  4. Use a shampoo that doesn’t strip dye. There’s lots of shampoo’s out there that don’t strip dye/bleach. Most brands make it and it will definitely hold the color up in your hair.
  5. CONDITIONER!! It is sooo important to use conditioner in your hair every time you wash it. Your hair looks and feels softer, keeps it from drying out and keeps the split ends away. For the first few weeks, use the conditioner in the box that came with the dye. It also holds the color up.
  6. Dry Shampoo: I use dry shampoo a lot because I don’t wash my hair every single day… that really dries out my hair. I use Herbal Essences Dry Shampoo. It comes in a pink can and is color protectant. I recommend it to everybody who has dyed their hair and likes to use dry shampoo. It’s very affordable and lasts a very long time. I’ll link it down below.

These tips aren’t anything from a book or a specialist, it’s what I’ve experienced and have done in the past and the results have been very good. Everybody’s hair is different so it’s just what you prefer! 💙
