Favorite Hair Products of Summer 2017

Honestly I think my hair is my best quality. I always get the most compliments on my hair. I try so hard to keep my hair looking it’s best but it gets to be a chore sometimes because my hair is so long. My hair used to be a mess. I had short hair that was all split ends, dry, damaged, brittle, all that. That’s when I started taking really good care of it. I didn’t cut my hair for 4 years and it grew quite a bit. Then I started using haircare products to keep it looking it’s best. I have different products that I switch on and off with during the summer and the winter so I’m going to show you what I use for the summer. I’ll probably end up making one for the winter too haha. I’ll link all of the items down below!

  1. Suave Color Protection Shampoo and Conditioner
  2. Coconut oil
  3. Not Your Mothers Sea Salt Texturizing Spray:
  4. Herbal Essences Dry Shampoo:
  5. Combs
  6. Hair, Skin and Nail vitamins

  1. Suave Color Protection Shampoo and Conditioner

Color Shampoo

Suave Professionals Color Protection Shampoo for Color Treated Hair

I’ve been using this shampoo since the beginning of summer and it’s really held the color in my hair. I used to use a damage control shampoo, but it stripped my hair of it’s color pretty quick. This shampoo is guaranteed up to 70 washes and it’s been true to it’s word so far!

2. Coconut oil

Coconut Oil

Viva Naturals Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, 16 Ounce

I have a really dry scalp so I love using coconut oil, especially in the winter. In the summer I use this coconut oil about once every 2-3 weeks. It moisturizes my hair after I bleach it and strip it of all moisture. It also helps my hair grow, so I’m not complaining haha

3. Not Your Mother’s Sea Salt Texturizing Spray

Not Your Mother’s Texturizing Sea Salt Spray, 8-ounce

I’ve been using this product for about 3 years now and I don’t have any complaints. I love putting this in my hair after I wash it and put in it braids. I let my hair dry (which takes way too long), then take it out of the braids and add some more spray. It keeps the waves in my hair much longer than going without it. The only thing I would say is it dries out your hair a little so be careful how much you use.

4. Herbal Essences Dry Shampoo

Herbal Essences Biorenew White Grapefruit & Mosa Mint Dry Shampoo, 4.9 FL OZ.jpg

Herbal Essences Biorenew White Grapefruit & Mosa Mint Dry Shampoo, 4.9 FL OZ

I love this product because it does everything it says it does and it smells good which is a plus. It doesn’t leave my hair feeling weird or dry after using it. You just spray it in, style as you please then brush/comb it out. It makes my hair feel freshly washed again and the feeling lasts all day.

5. Combs

Magic 10 Piece Professional Styling Comb Set

The last time I went somewhere and got my hair done, the lady said I shouldn’t use a brush because it causes split ends due to the bristles. Instead, she told me to use a comb and that’s what I’ve been using for about 3 months. I used to have really bad split ends and it caused my hair to not grow anymore. Now that I’ve been using a comb I’ve noticed a huge decrease of split ends in my hair, which has made it start growing even faster!

6. Hair, Skin and Nails Vitamins

Nature’s Bounty Hair Skin and Nails, 230 Gummies

These are probably the main reason my hair has been growing so much. I take two of these every morning with my breakfast. I have been using this product for about 10 months now and my hair has grown about 10 inches since. An inch a month. It’s worth trying if you’re desperately trying to get your hair to grow!

Those are all the hair products I’ve been using this summer! What haircare products do you use? Let me know in the comments! 💙

Timmy & Jimmy’s 6 year friend-aversary

Holy snickerdoodle guys! I can’t believe I’ve been friends with this girl for six years! We’ve been through so much together, did so much together, ate so much together… But we’ve been through it all. Breakups, coffee highs, random fits of laughter that get us yelled at by my parents. I don’t know how they dealt with us for 6 years… let alone what friends we have left.

In honor of it being 6 years with her I’m going to tell you about some funny things she’s done.

  1. Once she walked out in front of a semi that was coming down the road at 30 mph. I saved her life that day.
  2. She fell down my step. Not stairs. Just. One. Step. She couldn’t handle it haha.
  3. She named my microwave Eric and now every time she comes over she hugs my microwave.
  4. She put numbing paste in her mouth and proceeded to drool all over my floor.
  5. On multiple occasions she has laughed so hard she peed. It’s okay though so have I.
  6. She was holding a marshmallow out the window and dropped it while I was driving. She made me back up so she could pick it up.

She lightens my day at anytime. She never fails to make me laugh… plus she’s a pretty good body guard. She’s beaten up all my bullies multiple times. That’s probably why people don’t mess with me very much anymore.

Since it’s a very special day, we got each other presents. I’m going to share them with you.

What I got her:

A bag of Lay’s barbecue flavored chips, two bags of gummy bears, a bacon and cheese pizza, a note, a Mountain Dew and some hair ties.

What Carly got me:

10 Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, 10 3 Musketeers, a can of Campbell’s Spaghetti, and a Pepsi.

Pepsi is not included in the picture.

We pretty much get each other little things. But food is always the best present haha. How many years have you had your best friend? I hope you all liked reading! 💙

July Flashback

July has come and gone. Another 31 days have flown by. So I want to reminisce on all the exciting things that happened to me in July. All the countless memories with my friends that we’ll talk about until we get so old we forget everything.

July 1st. That was the day Andrew and I went to the infamous Springdale Cemetery to see if we could find the Witches Circle, where it is said to have demon worshiping ceremonies in the circle.

July 4th. Otherwise known as Independence Day in America. Fireworks, fireworks and more fireworks!

July 6th. Carly and I had our first “Timmy and Jimmy Day” in quite awhile.

July 8th. I got to see one of my “Little brother” for the first time in almost 2 years.

July 20th. My cousin Samm and I had a lake day. This was the day I ended up getting sunburnt haha.

July 22nd. The Heart Of Illinois Fair was going on, so Andrew and I met up with our friends and went to the Demolition Derby. I ended up getting covered from head to toe with mud and there was a fight, but that just made it even funner.

July 29th. To top the month off, Andrew, John, Samm and I went to Elevate, a trampoline park. (I’ll be posting a whole other blog on that later this week!)

Well, that was everything exciting I did this month! What are some fun things you did in July? Hope you all liked reading! 💙

My Insecurities.

“Don’t pay attention to what others think of you.” “Their opinions don’t matter.” “They’re only making fun of you because they feel bad about themselves.”

All the sentences people have said to me when I get made fun of, especially when they call out my insecurities. Living in todays world, society judges…. Hardcore. Maybe not out loud, but rather inside their heads so nobody can hear their thoughts on others. So because of this everybody is being made fun of because of things they are very insecure about and can’t change.

A few posts ago I wrote about having confidence. In that post I said to show off your insecurities, don’t let others get to you, and just have fun. I’m not going to lie, I struggle to do that sometimes. Every time I go tout somewhere in public I feel like people are judging me and it makes me feel so self conscious about the way I look and what I’m wearing. It’s hard when you feel really confident one second and the next second somebody brings up something you’re insecure about and your day gets ruined. It takes a lot to be able to brush it off like it’s nothing. Some people don’t even announce their insecurities for fear others will constantly notice it, or it will change how others perceive them. Today I’m going to tell all of you what I’m insecure about and what I don’t like about myself.

For starters, I hate my jawline. It’s little and not as prominent as I want it to be. The double chin life is real! Today, if you don’t have a nice jawline, you basically aren’t attractive… according to society. Well I saw screw society! If you have 23 chins, let the 23 chins show! It doesn’t make you ugly. It makes you beautiful. One of a kind.

I also don’t like my voice. I sound like a cow mixed with a little boy who is about to go through puberty… with the voice cracks every other sentence. I hate having my voice on video because I think I sound horrendous. But I’m done caring about my voice. I’m going to talk in videos all I want!

Chicken legs. I. Have. Chicken. Legs. My mother decided to bring back my childhood nickname “chicken legs”. Now everybody calls me chicken legs. But hey, if they look like chicken legs they must look pretty delicious because who doesn’t love chicken?!

My ears. When I was born one of my ears sat higher up than the other, and one stuck out farther. So my glasses always sit cock-eyed. I’m glad I’m a fond lover of contacts! My glasses either rub against my ears or fall off my face. There is no in-between. Dear contacts, don’t ever leave me… – an avid user.

As you can see, I have a lot of insecurities, but that isn’t going to stop me from living my life how I want. If people feel the need to talk about how ugly I am, go ahead because I know my self worth. (I also like to make fun of myself). That’s such an important thing to know. Know your self worth. You are all worth it. Every single one of you reading this. Whoever you are, you are beautiful. Don’t every forget that. Don’t be afraid to get out there. I challenge everybody to comment something they are insecure about! Brush off what everybody says and let your insecurities show! I hope you all liked reading! (Sorry I’m posting this a day late… I got lazy don’t hate me!) 💙

July Goals!

New month, new me. Or something like that. More like new month, same Dorito addicted maniac who is addicted to her phone. Sounds more like it! Yes, it’s July now, so I thought I would make a few more goals along with some old ones to stick to a “healthy” lifestyle. I may be skinny… but I’m really not a healthy person at all… this picture will prove it.

So, I’m not the healthiest person on this planet but I’m trying alright? Since I’m trying, I’ve set some more goals for me to try to accomplish this month. I’ll try to do better than I did last month! Let’s get into it!

My Goals

  • Not get sunburnt
  • Be less anxious
  • Start planning ahead
  • Exercise everyday
  • Eat healthy
  • Connect with my readers more

I hope I’ll be able to mostly stick to these goals. Seems pretty easy seeing it written in front of me. It’s hard to actually do them though. I hate being so lazy! We’ll see what happens this month! Hope you enjoyed reading! What are some goals you have for this month? Let me know in the comments! 💙

How to feel/be more confident

Everybody goes though periods where they don’t feel very confident. If you’re like me, that’s every single day. It’s completely normal to feel that way. If you’re having a bad hair day, bloating, acne, it happens! But sometimes people get in a rut where it’s a big mass of insecurities in front of them and they just can’t seem to overcome it. I’ll tell you some ways I’ve gotten over my mountain sized pile of insecurities and started to feel more confident.

Let your insecurities show: Nobody is perfect. Everybody has some type of insecurity whether it’s acne, scars, fat, stretch marks, or anything else that can bring even the most positive person down. Don’t be ashamed to show the world who you truly are. Don’t try to be somebody you aren’t. For example, if you don’t like to wear makeup don’t cake your face in every foundation you have because you have a few pimples. Everybody gets pimples… Just be you.

Be proud of who you are: I believe that God made you like this for a reason so be proud of it! There’s only one of you in this world! Well… unless you have identical siblings… in that case there’s more of you, but that makes you awesome!

Take pictures, get out there, and make memories: You’ll be sad when you’re older don’t have pictures to look back on from your high school or college years. Those are said to be the “best time of your life”. If it truly is the best time of your life, get out there and start living! Don’t be afraid to get out there because you think there is something wrong with… there isn’t. You are beautiful, amazing, and beyond gorgeous just being yourself. I know this is cliche but you really don’t live forever… there’s only one time you get to be this young, so make these years you’re on this Earth count!

Treat yourself: Don’t be afraid to go out and spoil yourself once every week or two. Go to Bath and Body Works (the best store ever hands down) and get some new perfume and soaps. Or go to a clothing store and buy the perfect outfit you’ve been dying to have. Get your hair or nails done. Do something to make you feel beautiful and your confidence will really show.

Change you lifestyle: If you aren’t confident because you aren’t living a healthy life you can change that! Exercise, diet, sleep well, and drink lots of water. You’re acne will clear up, you’ll have a better mindset and positive energy, you’ll be able to step out into the world and feel the best you’ve ever been.

Also, if you have friends that keep bringing you down constantly and making you feel bad about your insecurities GET THEM OUT OF YOUR LIFE!!! They aren’t worth your time and energy. Get some new friends who will help you on your journey to feeling more confident.

Those are some tips I have used to feel more confident. I’ve had acne, I have scars all over my legs, I have insecurities that make me hate myself a lot, but everyday I’m working towards overcoming them. Lately I’ve been feeling more positive because I kicked a lot of “friends” out of my life and have gotten out there and started living. Trust me, it’s the best feeling ever. You won’t regret it. 💙
