Okay, so it’s come to my attention that some people don’t know what pickle rolls are. It completely blows my mind that some people are living and they’ve never tried a pickle roll. So today I’m going to tell you how to make these quick, amazing little things that can make any holiday gathering 10 times better. They’re so easy to make too, so I don’t want to hear any excuses on how you don’t have time to make them!
First. You need three, that’s right THREE ingredients. That’s it.
The first thing you need is a jar of pickles. Now there’s different kinds of pickles so you have to be careful. They only work with one kind. That’s the spears. Not the sandwich slices. Those are too thin. You can’t use a whole pickle either. It just doesn’t work. So remember. The spears. They look like a little triangle.
Next you need ham. Slices of ham. The square slices of ham work the best. I’ve only used the regular kind of ham but my dad said you can used smoked ham but there will be a difference. I like to keep it classic around here. The smoked ham seems a tad too fancy for me.
The last thing you need is cream cheese. Lots of cream cheese. You can never have to much cream cheese. That’s the number one rule.
So now that you have those three ingredients you can begin to make pickle rolls. Lay one slice of ham down on the plate. Make sure there isn’t water on it or the cream cheese won’t stick properly. Take a knife and spread cream cheese all over the slice of ham. I like to use an extreme amount because I love cream cheese. You don’t have to be like me. Now, take the pickle, spear shaped, and lay it at the end of the slice. It should be the perfect size. All you have to do now is roll it up! There you have it. A pickle roll. My sister showed these to me a few years ago and I’ve been addicted ever since. I would recommend to put them in the fridge for a bit to let them set then cut them into slices for maximum enjoyment.
