Growing up there was always a nativity scene in the house. It’s always been apart of Christmas to me. Seeing all the animals and people centered around baby Jesus laying in the manger. It makes me feel warm and happy. A lot of nativity scenes are different that I know of. The one we have in my house has Jospeh and Mary next to baby Jesus in the manger, with some animals. I think it’s a sheep, a goat and a cow? I’m not too sure because it’s a very old scene. My dad said it’s been in my family for about 100 years now.
I looked it up and it says there’s an ox and a donkey usually in the scene. The ox represents patience while the donkey represents humility and the readiness to serve. I did not know that. You learn something new everyday. Other scenes can have shepherds-men, elephants, camels, and other animals.
I’m not what you call a very religious person. I don’t go to church every Sunday, I haven’t been baptized, I haven’t been as good of a person as I wanna be, but that doesn’t stop me from believing there is a god. I know he’s always there watching me. I pray to him, I talk to him a lot, I ask him for advice. I know he’s in everything I do. He’s got a plan for me and I’m walking down the path he’s laid out for me to walk on. I know he loves me and will forgive me for everything I do wrong… I do have oopsies quite a bit but you gotta make mistakes to grow as a human. I’ve learned that one the hard way. To me it wouldn’t feel like Christmas if God and everything holy wasn’t part of it.
